The Quilts Have Been Shipped

The Yellow Ribbon Quilts are on the way to Afghanistan. I took them to the post office today. Our quilters added personal notes to the soldiers for each of the quilts that was sent. When I wrote my notes, it was an awesome feeling. I thought about the guys and girls that will receive the quilts and the notes. I had a hard time thinking of a good way to express my sincere gratitude to these American Heroes. What we did for them does not even begin to compare with what they do for us everyday in a country very far from their homes and loved ones.

Please check back soon as I will be adding photos of the stacks of finished quilts. It was a very impressive site. I will also keep you posted when I hear that the quilts have arrived in Afghanistan.

This is an awesome project. I hope to hear from other quilters who will want to send Yellow Ribbon Quilts to friends or family or even total strangers serving in the war in Afghanistan or Iraq. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming involved, please send me an email at yellowribbonquiltproject@gmail.com. I will be happy to answer your questions and send the quilt pattern that we used.

I am truly honored to be a Military Mom. As many of you know, it is a very hard job, but one that makes me proud. Today I am so excited that I have my Marine son home from Camp Geiger for Thanksgiving. My stepson will not make it home from Afghanistan for the holidays. He will be coming home in February for his leave. I could not be more proud of my soldiers and of all the men and women that are serving this great country. I believe that America is the land of the free...because of the brave.
